Announcing a new Meetup for Brooklyn Mountain Biking!

What: The Battery to The George Washington Bridge

When: Saturday, February 20,[masked]:00 AM

Castle Clinton National Monument
Battery Park
New York, NY 10005

This will be a ride from The Battery to The George Washington Bridge (or closer) and back.

Several members have expressed interest in this type of paved ride/outing. Typically a ride like this in the warmer months would last all day, but well see how the weather co-operates in this season.

This ride will be along the paved pathway running along the Hudson River Greenway Trail. The path is very scenic and will take us past some interesting points in New York.

During the first leg of the ride will take us along the Hudson River Path, This is a 550-acre park that stretches from the Battery to 59th Street and will include 13 public piers, a marine estuary, upland parks, a waterfront esplanade and a bikeway. As we continue along we'll pass an area named The Cherry Walk, Stretching from 100th to 125th Street, this segment of the greenway extends more than a mile through Riverside Park.
The path is graced by several dozen cherry trees that come to a dramatic blossom each Season.

Depending on how everyone is feeling and the weather, we can continue onward, or head back at this point.

Moving along we'll come upon The Little Red Lighthouse built in 1880, the Little Red Lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. At this point that we'll decide as a group as to whether head back along the path traveled or take the East side back down to The Battery.

This ride will be at a casual pace with as many rests or breaks as the group desires.
As alway's Helmets are required and a please remember to dress according to the weather. The temperature is expected to be around 40 degrees

A map of the path can be found in our files section

The plan is to meet in Battery Park by the Castle Clinton Natinal Monument. The ride will start at 11am so please make every attempt to be a little early and ready to ride at that time.

Any ideas or suggestions concerning this ride will be welcomed.
