SPOT 1 - Jamie Roth & Ruchi Jain - Building With Uncertainty: How to overcome common development challenges to build great products

The Prolific Interactive team helps startups and Fortune 500 brands build premium products. Challenges are plentiful during any product project, but in their recent work with The Wing – a co-working and community space for women – and an emerging biotech travel security company, the Prolific Product team faced the challenges head-on. Join us as Jamie Roth and Ruchi Jain discuss how they handled uncertainty, simultaneously development of APIs and iOS code, and maximized an agile cadence with a distributed team.

Jamie Roth, is a Senior Product Manager at Prolific Interactive where she is currently leading The Wing Product Team. She's a Venture Capital Associate turned Product Manager and has worked with companies like, Fieldlens, Matchbook, and Quotidian Ventures.

SPOT 2 - Nate Kirby: The Promise of a Better Future

In a shared Javascript and Swift codebase, Genius uses a number of different techniques to try to make reasoning about asynchronous programming easier. In this talk we’ll take a cue from the Javascript world, and discuss how using Promises / Futures in Swift makes our code mode understandable, more composable and more reliable.

Nate Kirby is an Android and iOS developer at Genius. Previously he built the Digg and Bitly iOS apps, among others. In his spare time he enjoys coffee, purchasing gadgets he'll never have enough time to use, and bread making.
