What we're about

Originally created by Gina W. to bring together lesbians who live in the Park Slope/Prospect Heights area, Brooklyn Lesbians 50+ has expanded to include all area lesbians who enjoy socializing in Brooklyn. Because I (Jill U.) do most of the planning (with very creative help from Sue L.), we're likely to attend LOTS of live music (e.g., Jalopy Theater, Celebrate Brooklyn, SuperFine gospel/bluegrass brunches) and performances (Queer Memoir, Dixon Place); enjoy brunches and early-evening cocktails in local restaurants (the koi pond and garden at Sea Witch is a personal favorite); explore different areas of Brooklyn (Green-Wood Cemetery walks, Red Hook art galleries, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Botanic Garden); have dim sum in Brooklyn's Chinatown; and participate in lots of other member-suggested activities.

This is a social meetup, not necessarily a singles group. Single, married, or in a relationship: ALL lesbians are all welcome. Under 50 welcome to join, too; ID not required.

For the past few years, our dues have been paid by a generous benefactor. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case, so...we will be asking you to contribute a couple of dollars every now and then to defray our costs. Although NO ONE will be turned away for inability to contribute, I would personally appreciate help with this charge.

This group has been a bit sleepy lately, and I am looking forward to an enthusiastic revival. COME ON OUT!

Looking forward to meeting you!

Jill
