Intro to MIG Welding Level 1

Intro to MIG Welding Level 1

Details

Do you want to learn how to weld? Well here is your chance at The Gizmo Dojo in Broomfield. We will be learning how to use a MIG welding machine to create some basic welds and understand the concept of the welding process.

What is MIG you ask? MIG stands for ‘Metal Inert Gas’ which is more commonly known as wire feed. It uses a coated wire with the help of an inert gas such as Argon and CO2 to protect the weld until is solidifies. Most of the class time will be a hands on experience as you get to learn the controls of the machine, the types of welds, and making the welds yourself. However we only have small machines available that will go up to 1/4 inch, so no heavy welding yet in this class.

We will also be going over safety guidelines as well as appropriate clothing before doing ANY welding to make sure everyone stays safe. These guidelines will also be posted below to ensure that you are ready before coming to the class to avoid have to make a second trip to change.

Acceptable clothing:
Shirts- Short or long, Cotton strongly preferred (we have long sleeve shirts available at the space)
Pants- Denim preferred , or anything that covers the Entire leg. (HOT sparks will find a way to your skin if you let them, trust me on this.)
Shoes- Closed toed (meaning regular tennis shoes or sneakers), boots, or a pair that you don’t mind getting a little dirty ;)

NON- Acceptable clothing:
Pants- Shorts, Capris, or anything that has holes.
Shoes- Plastic (Crocs or Gloved shoes), Sandals of any kind, and dress shoes.
