Dandelion debate night: Fake news

Details

It has always been a principle of journalism that journalists will protect their sources and in many cases they would even go to prison rather than reveal names - but is this very same principle now allowing journalists to spread false news without any rules about validating where the stories come from?

Join us on Tuesday, 5 June (!), to debate the following motion: "This house believes a huge step in the fight against false news would be a new law requiring journalists to name all sources."

There is no need to prepare and you can decide if you want to observe or speak. The host draws the teams at random and provides feedback afterwards because the goal is that you not only learn something about online rights but also communication.

The Dandelion debate nights argue a different topic each week and take place at a venue fully accessible for wheelchair users.

All levels of experience are very welcome - from first-timers to experienced debaters. Practice public speaking with fun!
