I am happy to announce our September meetup. Hopefully many of you will be back from summer holidays by then and get to come and see two interesting presentations. Calin-Andrei Burloiu (https://ro.linkedin.com/in/calinburloiu) @ Adobe and Dan Serban (https://ro.linkedin.com/in/haskelldeveloper) will be our presenters and will discuss about how Adobe uses Spark for one of their products (Calin) and how Kafka can help the "feeding" of data process (Dan).
Update: in the beginning of this meetup we will have as guest Alin Stefanescu (https://ro.linkedin.com/in/alinstefanescu), associate professor at University of Bucharest. Alin is looking for big data themes/projects that can be assigned for completion ( 2 months duration) to graduating Computer Science students.
The agenda for this meetup:
6:30 PM - gathering
6:50 PM - Looking for Big Data Projects for computer science graduating students , Alin Stefanescu.
7:00 PM - Clustering devices into people at Adobe by using Apache Spark, Calin-Andrei Burloiu
7:40 PM - Got data? Feed it into Kafka, Dan Serban
In this talk we explore how to "think in Kafka", the interplay between Kafka and reactive streams (RxPy in our particular case), as well as feeding a Spark Streaming pipeline from a Kafka topic.
8:20 - 9:15 pizza and drinks, sponsored by Netopia (http://wp.netopia.ro/).
Thank you & see you soon,
