March meetup: GDPR and Big Data, Spark (Databricks) on Azure demo

Hello everybody,

we continue our meetups on 2018 with the March meetup - March 13th - and with new topics and presenters. Since one hot topic lately is the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we will have as guest Alex Bordei (https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexandrubordei/) @ Bigstep to tell us about how to build data systems according to GDPR rules. Also we will have a demo, by Sorin Peste (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sorin-peste-194b34109/) @ Microsoft, of the recently launched Databricks on Azure service - to see how Spark can be run in Azure cloud, which are the benefits and as well to understand the possible use cases.

This talk will explore how to build big data or any other data analysis systems, which adhere to GDPR principles. We’ll cover the basics on how to approach profiling, how to do proper data collection and how to store data safely while preserving its statistical properties and usefulness.

Demo centered on how to use Apache Spark in the Azure Databricks service: for cleaning, analyzing and visualizing data, as well as finding trends and applying Machine Learning algorithms for products recommendations.
