Talk 1 – From Micro to MacroBenchmarks

Which code/framework is faster in my use case? What is the maximum throughput? How my system degrades? We have to deal with these questions on a daily basis, but we still choose to leave them unanswered as we “don’t have time to benchmark it”.
In this session, you will get a gentle review of the JVM internals, get a guide of how to build proper benchmarks, avoid the most common pitfalls and a hands-on with the most popular benchmark frameworks for the JVM. After this session, you will be able to build your own benchmarks in minutes and finally test by yourself what is faster.

Talk 2 - Approach for designing & executing Cloud Transformation for The Enterprise. Key use cases & patterns for Cloud-Native Architecture
Speaker: Corneliu Barbulescu – Executive Architect @ IBM
What are the business drivers that determine Cloud Adoption by the enterprises, including some necessary myth busting? What are the key Cloud Transformation and Modernization patterns and required capabilities to deliver an end-to-end Journey 2 Cloud? During the talk we will walk through an IBM perspective on these topics and apply no non-sense critical thinking.
On the other hand, we will discuss Cloud-Native architectural patterns. What are the business situations that demand for Cloud-Native architecture resolution that leverage microservices and / or containers? The presentation will show concrete use cases for gradual modernization, green field development or digitization. Most of this genuine battle proof content comes fresh from experiences across Europe, so bring along your fresh mind.

Denis Rosa is a Developer Advocate for Couchbase and lives in Munich - Germany. Denis has been developing software professionally for 14+ years. He is a Java Specialist, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, a huge enthusiast of online platforms and an early adopter by nature. Denis likes to write about search, Big Data, AI, Microservices and everything else that would help developers to make a beautiful, faster, stable and scalable app.
