Matt Dowle's background is investment banking and hedge funds in London, quantitative equity research and trading both low and high frequency. He has been using S-PLUS since 1996 and R since 2002, and he is currently taking a career break and working on his well-know and extremely useful data.table package:

The data.table package (https://github.com/Rdatatable/data.table) is one of the most useful additions to base R and it offers fast aggregation, ordered joins and add/modify/delete of columns by group of large datasets up to tens or hundreds of gigabytes of data in a very efficient way with a brief and flexible syntax. In short, you should come and learn about data.table if you will ever deal with data larger than mtcars.
