What we're about

Come meditate in a small, friendly, supportive environment. Whether you have never meditated or are experienced, you are very welcome. There is no fee. If you'd like a lesson (or review or advice), just let us know: an advanced member will gladly give you to answer questions or give a private lesson in basic meditation at the beginning of our evening. MeetUp happens for 1 1/2 hours with conversation and questions at the beginning and end. Sitting meditation is in 15 - 20 minute periods, separated by 5 - 10 minute periods of walking meditation. As we believe there is no one "right" way to sit, we have cushions, meditation benches and chairs. We meditate together, silently practicing in any Buddhist tradition, including Zen. Tibetan, Theravadan, etc.
If you meditate alone, you may be happily surprised by the value of encouragement and the sensation of higher energy that happens in a group. If you want to start meditating, this group will advise and support you.

Buddhist Meditation Meetup at Plymouth Meeting

Plymouth Meeting Friends Meeting House

Our meditation meetup now happens weekly except for the second Sunday of the month--when we have our lecture series meetup. Come sit with a small, supportive group. If you usually meditate alone, you'll be surprised by the different energy that comes with group sitting. If you're new to meditation or haven't sat for a while, just ask Gail for a PRIVATE LESSON or a refresher when you walk in. Conversation and questions happen at the beginning and end of the evening. We'll meditate in 15-20 min. sitting periods with 5-10 min. walking periods in between. You can bring a friend with your one RSVP. Or even come without any RSVP. We supply cushions, meditation benches, and chairs. All good. There is no charge. Sponsored by the Philadelphia Buddhist Association www.philabuddhist.org
