Love the beauty in nature that you see through hiking? Ready for some easy-moderate trails, 1-3 hour hiking outings within 2 hours of Buffalo, and enjoyable conversations along the way?

I am new to Western NY but having lived in 5 different locations (in 3 states) in the last 4 years, I've found the best way to see beautiful area scenery and meet fabulous new people along the way is through hiking Meetup groups. Hope you'll join in, whether a long-time Buffalonian or new to the area. Lace up those hiking boots and let's explore!

**Note that since starting this group, fellow Day Hikers, Chuck Feldman and Nancy Buck, have offered to help plan and lead several of our hikes. Both Chuck and Nancy know this area well and already have taken us to many gorgeous and unique locations. Our hikes now run the gamut from lovely nature preserve walks to more challenging hiking adventures. Hope you will join all of us!**

Come Prepared:

I encourage all hikers to bring appropriate items from the 10 Essentials list:

Many of our hikes take place in winter so have snowshoes, poles, and/or microspikes on hand as needed. Of course, always bring water.

No-Shows and Frequent Last Minute Cancels:

Unfortunately, we've had several instances where people have signed up for outings but not attended and failed to change their RSVP's or provide any notice to the group host. As a result, people on wait lists have not had the opportunity to attend and hosts/groups have been left waiting for people who do not show up.

Please be respectful of your hosts, the people attending a Meetup, and the people on the wait lists. If you cannot attend an outing you've signed up for, change your RSVP to No as soon as you can and at least one day prior to the event, barring last minute emergency or illness. If the situation is last minute, still change your RSVP and/or let the event host know.

We will begin all hikes within 10 minutes of the stated start time, unless an attendee has texted the host to let him/her know that the attendee is on the way and will be there soon. Cell phone numbers for hosts always are provided in the Meetup description.

If a person "no-shows" three times, that person will be blocked from the group. People who frequently cancel at the last minute also will be blocked.

Interested in hosting:

If you would like to lead a hike or other outdoor adventure for our group, you are welcomed and encouraged to do so. Send me a private message through Meetup and I'll get you set up as an event host.

Thanks all for your participation and friendship. Looking forward to seeing you on one of our Meetups soon!
