- Intro to Coding: Writing Your First Line of CodeLink visible for attendees
Join us for a live, interactive workshop where we'll cover the fundamentals of JavaScript, including variables, objects, arrays, and basic logic. This beginner-friendly session is all about getting comfortable with the basics so you can start coding with confidence.
What you’ll learn:
- Understanding the web with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript basics

- Exploring Recursion in JavaScriptLink visible for attendees
Join us for a live, interactive workshop where you’ll unravel the mysteries of recursive functions, AKA functions that call themselves.
What you’ll learn:- How to use loops and recursion for solving problems efficiently.
- The key components of recursive functions, including base and recursive cases.
- Techniques for improving performance and readability of recursive functions.

- Pair Programming WorkshopLink visible for attendees
Join the Codesmith community in this pair programming workshop. Pair programming is a core part of the Codesmith learning experience, and this workshop is a great opportunity to practice this skill. Coders of all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to join!
Here’s what to expect:
- We’ll kick off with a quick intro to pair programming and tips on how to enhance your technical communication.
- Then, you’ll be paired up with someone of a similar coding level to work on a challenge—one person will be the driver, writing the code, while the other will be the navigator, guiding the logic.
- Plus, a mentor will be on hand to help you work through any blocks that come up.
- Please note that you’ll need a working microphone in order to participate, and make sure to join on time as you’ll be paired with a partner at the beginning of the workshop.
If this is your first time trying pair programming, we recommend reviewing Codesmith’s guide onHow to Technically Communicateto get the most out of the session. Take advantage of this session to practice key programming skills, build confidence, and connect with fellow learners!
