[Hello! Thank you so much for your willingness to pour back into your local land and participate in its stewardship. As of Feb 2026 we're putting the VOF Volunteer Meetup Page on hold and are not making any events through this group. There will still be public volunteer events announced and hosted through the Bull Run Mountains Natural Area Preserve Hiking Group, so please join that group look there for events like our Wineberry Day Pull.]

This group is for anyone interested in volunteer trail maintenance and natural resource management on Bull Run Mountains Natural Area Preserve. This group is operated by Virginia Outdoors Foundation Preserve staff with the goal to maximize our volunteer work and volunteer force to maintain the current trail network and increase the community of people coming out to the preserve and working alongside staff!
All skill levels are welcome and our activities have some range such as: trail clearing, constructing, general maintenance, invasive species removal, building and repairing water bars and various special projects occurring on the preserve! We meet once a month (weather and conditions permitting) and generally work for anywhere from two to four hours.
This volunteer group will not be restricted to trail work - we will be posting all volunteer opportunities and events that are occurring on the preserve! So if trail work isn't totally your thing, no worries - there will be other volunteer events posted here that might be more up your alley!
We're looking forward to protecting and preserving our native habitat and trail network with everyone!
