NOTICE: All meetings beginning January 2018 will be held in the Tyrone Room in the Brent House Hotel and Conference in front of Ochsner Medical Center, 1512 Jefferson Hwy. Make 2018 the year that you finally work on your public speaking skills! Learn to speak confidently and effectively! No experience necessary to get started! It's a skill that anyone can learn. This is the place to come to Gain the experience you need to become an effective communicator, speaker, and leader for any role. It's fun and educational! And everyone is friendly, positive, & supportive. Everyone is there for the same purpose, self-improvement! Guests are always welcome! What to expect at an Business & Professional Toastmasters Meeting: Meetings normally start promptly at 6:30 pm. Guest welcoming and member networking begins at 6:15 pm. The meetings are run by the members, and as the meeting progresses, the different meeting roles are explained to the guests and visitors. There are 3 primary segments to the meeting: 2-4 scheduled speakers, a "TableTopics" segment, and an Evaluation segment in which the speakers are critiqued and offered constructive criticism for continued improvement. The Table Topics segment consists of questions that are answered with a 1-2 minute impromptu response, and guests are permitted, but not required, to participate. Dress is casual. Guests are welcome for free. Meetings are open to everyone over 18 yrs. Membership to Business & Professional Toastmasters is only $9.50 per month. Again, guests are always welcome for free! The mission statement of Business & Professional Toastmasters Club is this: To provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.
