GraphQL in production: Lifely

Details
Hi JS engineers!
We're happy to announce our second GraphQL in production meetup. The last time we gathered a big group of GraphQL enthusiasts, shared Bynder (https://www.bynder.com/en/about-us/) and KLM (https://klmitjobs.nl/en/about-klm-it/) experience and initiated some interesting discussions. We want to continue and expand our community, so this GraphQL event will be organized and hosted by Lifely (https://lifely.nl/).
Talks
“The impact and glory of GraphQL in applications at Lifely”, by Peter Peerdeman.
GraphQL has been an amazing technology for software agencies like Lifely in the past years. GraphQL gives us a lot of options in how to connect frontend applications to a plethora of databases, backends, API's and legacy systems. Peter will share Lifely's experiences switching over from REST to GraphQL, explain the different ways of using GraphQL in our projects and tell you more about the challenges we faced and how we solved them.
“Optimizing database queries in GraphQL” by Jesse de Vries and Bryan te Beek.
Jesse and Bryan have implemented their fair share of GraphQL powered applications and have found that the flexibility of GraphQL subqueries can also have a negative impact on query performance. In this presentation, Jesse and Bryan present some of the problems they stumbled upon and present their solutions for optimizing subqueries, using GraphQL query AST parsing to pre-emptively join / aggregate data on the database level.
“Show and Tell”
Is there something you'd like to share with the community? Something you are working on that uses GraphQL? Show and tell us about your project, initiate a discussion or ask a question. You'll have 5-10 minutes, no slides necessary!
Kim Brandwijk (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kimbrandwijk/), author and contributor of graphql-binding, graphql-yoga, graphql-static-binding, grapqhl-cli, graphql-config, graphcool/prisma etc., will take you on a short tour of the current GraphQL ecosystem, showing you a high level overview of the latest GraphQL tools, and sharing the latest developments.
