An Image review, or critique, is the single most effective way to learn how to improve your eye, photographically speaking, and learn about what makes a photograph look good. Once you know that, you can take those lessons and design your photo shoots to give you the image you're looking for. Also important is that you have your images reviewed by someone that has the experience to help you. All those FB "Likes" mean nothing really, but a review by an experienced reviewer can help you take the next steps to improvement. I'll briefly cover the PPA's 12 Elements of a Merit Image which will also allow you to design your images around proven award winning principles. As a member of the PPA, I've attended the Judges Workshop, and although I never wanted to be a PPA judge, over the years I've critiqued thousands of photos for hundreds of photographers. In our time together we'll review up to 5 of your images with suggestions on both technical and aesthetic qualities so that you will be to apply what you learn to future photo shoots. This is a group review. Bring a USB flash drive that is pc compatible with 5 of your own images.
A casual get-together over coffee. Bring your cameras, photos, and your questions. Or just come for coffee! This is not a formal meeting, just an opportunity to meet some fellow members in a relaxed atmosphere. Come when you can and stay as long as you want and feel free to join in the conversations! Please show your appreciation to Deja Brew for hosting our event by making a purchase. Thank you. PS. Chincoteague NWR provides plentiful opportunities to photograph stunning landscapes and multitudes of migrating birds and wildlife. This is always a popular destination! Cost $395pp To book this trip go to: https://www.colinhocking.photography/chincoteague Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge includes more than 14,000 acres of beach (Assateague National Beach), dunes, marsh, and maritime forest. Established to provide habitat for migratory birds (with an emphasis on Snow Geese), it is one of the most popular locations on the East Coast for wildlife photographers. What we'll photograph: At this time of year we’ll be able to photograph from sunrise to sunset and beyond because of the shorter fall days. And if you want to photograph the beautiful coastline in the refuge we can do that too. The opportunities are endless, as well as stunning, and we'll be looking to photograph the Chincoteague ponies, shore birds, Bald Eagles, the Delmarva Fox Squirrel, Snow Geese, Tundra Swan, Egrets, Herons, and dozens of other birds that will be on display for your photographing pleasure. What you'll learn: We'll have at least one image review session and we'll be using techniques to capture everything from landscapes and wildlife. You'll be learning how to use your camera's focus systems to capture fast moving objects in low light. Changing ISO, shutter speeds and apertures to maximize your creativity and achieve technical accuracy, too. You'll also learn about composition and wildlife photography best practices. What's NOT included: Accommodations, travel, meals and beverages are not included in the price of the tour. Anything else? I suggest staying at the Refuge Inn on Chincoteague Island. www.refugeinn.com I'll send out a final email with gear to bring a few days before departure.
