How did you hear about us?

Some years ago a friend introduced me to your magazine.

Like our parent organization, our goal is, "to foster a secular society based on science, reason, freedom of inquiry, and humanist values." Are you in agreement with this goal? If you are not, please explain why you want to join.

What do you mean by 'foster?' Do I have to go about the town trying convert people from non-thinking to thinking? Do I have to protest the 10 commands hung on a public building? If the answer to either of those questions is 'yes,' then, no I do not wish to 'foster.' If by 'foster' you mean open minded discussion and argument, free from dogma and orthodoxy, then yes, I do support your goal. Do I have to embrace your goal, do I have to believe your reality in order to take part, then no thanks, I have more interesting stuff to pursue.

What would you like to gain from your membership in our group?

What do you have to offer??? Conversation and the opportunity to gain a better understanding of human nature.

Introduction

Call me Ishmael! I am a 69 yo man who has spent six full decades trying to understand religion. I am fairly well versed in the history of Western Civilation, philosophy and religion. I don't do facebook and I don't do photo's

What MG F. is saying about this Meetup Group

A rather poorly informed goup of people, much like those religiously orthodox people who don't understand the origens of their own belief systems.
