How did you hear about us?

Through a friend

Like our parent organization, our goal is, "to foster a secular society based on science, reason, freedom of inquiry, and humanist values." Are you in agreement with this goal? If you are not, please explain why you want to join.

Not entirely. This is a worthy goal, but I am skeptical of a human being's capacity for reason. And I am quite sure that even the best human brain is limited in it's capacity for understanding the forces of the universe. At the same time that I do not sympathize with the way that dogma is used in most religions, I also feel that some few dedicated practitioners of many different religions have a window on the world that goes beyond any 'science' and 'reason' that humans are capable of. I do not think that we need to be a 'secular' society to pursue science, reason and freedom of inquiry. We need to be an open-minded society--wide open. I hope to find some open minds in the group.

What would you like to gain from your membership in our group?

Fellowship

Introduction

Working my way west. England, Maryland, and now Oregon. Can remember being a skeptic since the age of 4, when I reasoned that, logically, the Easter Bunny could not exist--but Santa Clause did. Trained and worked in biochemistry. Now a potter.
