Communicating Science and Humanism through the Arts

As you may know, Center For Inquiry–Portland has been funding community performances of the musical BANG! (more about the show below), and we would love to see it turned into a professional production. The show's creator, Fred Strong, has just launched a Kickstarter campaign to take the next step in this process, the production of a professional studio recording, which we can use to build a team that will manage stage productions of this an other works of art that showcase humanism and science.
Below is a message from Fred, inviting you to support this project.
Dear Friends,
I have just launched a Kickstarter project to fund a professional cast CD recording of a musical I recently wrote called BANG! For those of you who don’t know, Kickstarter is a grassroots, online service that helps fund entrepreneurial and arts projects by allowing people everywhere, via the internet, to make small (or larger) contributions. The title of this project is: BANG! Professional Cast Recording
I wrote BANG! In 2012 for a non-professional, 3 performance run here in Portland. With the help of volunteers, a DVD was made of those performances (which is now on youtube):
I am now attempting to take things to the next level by putting together a fully professional cast recording so that the songs can be orchestrated and performed in the way they were more accurately conceived.
In short, BANG! Is a celebration of evolution, science, life and Humanity, hopefully a little fun, inspirational, informative and provocative. It is a chronological trip through time and space from the Big Bang to present day Earth with music that spans several genres and a cast of characters that includes Bonobos, Cave People and a Space Rapper.
I’m sending this note to let you know of the project and, if you’re interested, to invite you to check it out and, if it’s something you’d like to support, contribute (any amount) to help the cause. Also, if you have Facebook friends or know of others that might be interested, please pass the word along.
Thanks for reading this!
