Colorado Friends Of Old Time Music And Dance is a non-profit organization that runs this community, participatory dances — such as contra dances — with live music and calling in the Denver and Boulder metro area of Colorado. No prior dance experience is necessary, and nearly all our dances are preceded by a lesson. Community dances are very social by nature — married and unmarried couples, singles accompanied with friends or arriving alone, and anyone from age 9 to 90 who enjoys dancing are welcome. It's okay to come and just check things out too. Children are welcome at dances if supervised by a responsible adult…
The theme is “non-traditional old-time”, meaning not just old time but also some Irish, some swing, a little Balkan and the like. Likely fast and lively, not much singing, but we’ll take it wherever people want it to go. We’ll publish a tune list of some tunes we’ll play ahead of each jam in case people want to practice (please e-mail me if you’d like to get on the e-mail list for that). I’m really looking forward to these… should be a great time!
Please call/write me if you have any questions.
