Bavarian Alps - Edge Mountain (Mt Vaŋk) Hike
The Vaŋk (English pronunciation: Wank) is a mountain in southern Germany, situated in the Loisach valley close to the Austrian border in the southwestern Ester Mountains range near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It is 1,780 metres (5,840 ft) at the summit. The mountain is crowned by a grassy summit which has views over Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the surrounding region. A mountain hut on the summit, the Wank-Haus, provides food and accommodation, and a nearby scientific observatory plays a role in monitoring atmospheric and climatic conditions. The Wank is a destination for hikers, day-trippers from Garmisch-Partenkirchen and paragliders.
The Hike
This is 18Km hike which will take us up Mt Vaŋk (1780m). We will start our hike from Garmisch-Partenkirchen railway station making our way across to Wankbahn Talstation from where we hike up to Mt Vaŋk. We will stop for lunch at the summit, after lunch we will head back down towards the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen or you have the option to take the cable car back down.

How to Get There
I am travelling on Friday and returning Sunday Zurich to Munich and GP
Munich
On Sunday you can visit the Old Town of Munich or the English Gardens or enjoy a beer or two at one of the Beer Halls or Gardens.
Food & Drinks
Bring water and snacks/sandwiches can be purchased at Munich Station, there is also a mountain restaurant/bar and toilets where we plan stop for a break.
Accommodation
Book any accommodation within your budget close to the Munich Ost (Railway Station). I have booked the following accommodation Leonardo Hotel.

Zillertal Alps - Berlin High Trail
Truncated valleys, carved out by glaciers over time immemorial, alternate with dense woodlands spread over a total area of 422 square kilometres. Nestled in between are numerous traces of alpine culture: mountain huts, alpine farms and high mountain trails are all part of this vibrant natural and cultural landscape.
The challenging Berlin High Trail is one of the Great Walks – one of the most spectacular long-distance hikes in Tirol – and leads from the village of Finkenberg and the Gamshütte hut through the heart of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park. Hikers can look forward to fabulous views in a truly stunning glacier setting.
This trip is in partnership with GOA-UK whose group members will also be joining us.
Mayrhofen
The market town of Mayrhofen at the end of the Zillertal Valley brings together the energy and qualities which characterise this lush mountain valley, offering a combination of activities and relaxation.
The Hike
The challenging Berlin High Trail is a must-do high Alpine hike starting in Mayrhofen and then to Finkenberg and leading right through the heart of the extraordinary Zillertal Alps Nature Park, one of Tirol's crown jewels. Among the highlights of the hike is the Berliner Hütte, the largest hut in Tirol to be run by the Austrian Alpine Club and the first hut in the region to become a listed building. With its wood-panelled rooms, five-metre-high dining hall and chandeliers on the ceiling, it is a true pearl of the Alps.
The Berlin High Trail is a challenging hike for experienced walkers. It takes around a week to complete the full trail from start to finish with 85Km and a total of 6,600 vertical metres.

Book any flights within your budget. EasyJet are doing reasonable priced flights from Switzerland to Innsbruck or book your Train/Bus journey to Mayrhofen. I am flying in from London and will meet you in Mayrhofen at 19:00pm on 23/08/23

Book any accommodation within your budget close to the Innsbruck Hbf (Railway Station) for the 30/08/23 onwards. I have booked the following accommodation at
