[C.H.A.R.G.E.] (http://www.chargedragonboat.org/) is the highly spirited and dedicated dragon boat team organized by the Chinese American Association of Central Florida (http://www.orlandochinese.org/). Paddling on the weekends and racing against international competitors throughout the year, we keep the ancient Chinese sport alive in our Orlando-based community to promote teamwork, friendship, and a healthy lifestyle.
If you want to try out the sport, come to a practice! Even if you've got no experience paddling on a boat, we invite you to join us. We've got all the gear you need and a cozy little dragonboat seat waiting for you.
The Duanwu Festival, also often known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is a traditional holiday originating in China, occurring near the summer solstice. The festival now occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar, which is the source of the festival’s alternative name, the Double Fifth Festival.
"The festival is the perfect combination of a cultural celebration and a rendezvous between friends. We are not only able to test the Duanwu knowledge and carry out the tradition by dragon boating and eating zongzi, but we also had fun playing games and socializing with the people in our community. The Duanwu Festival is the perfect introduction to summer. ”

This is the 13th Annual Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival. The largest event in Florida attended by more than 60 teams.
It's the showdown in our hometown that arrives every Fall. Make it a point to race your best: to walk, sit and paddle super tall.
Mixed teams comprise male and female paddlers. Each team must have a minimum of 10 female paddlers. A drummer may be male or female.
Race distances include 500m events for Sport and Community Division teams. For more information to get yourself ready for race day, visit the event page (https://www.gwndragonboat.com/Default.asp?id=orlando&l=1).
We'll have a lot of fun and get to race some really good teams right here in this race.
Just to remind you, though, each of you will have to attend practice in the months preceding the race and actually demonstrate the commitment to earn a seat for racing on the dragon boat.
