Come out to the last event for 2017, giving way to the holidays! We are adding a different element to the event - an Open House to explore Progressive's IT department. See below.

Quick Summary

• 5:45p - 6:45p: IT Open House

• 6:00p - 7:30: Web App Security Presentation

• 6:00 - Until it runs out: Pizza!!

Topic Overview:

Query strings, cookies, and HTTP Headers are just a few examples of untrusted user input entering your web applications. Are you validating this user controlled input on the server side or are you relying on client side JavaScript to protect you? Come see why your exposed application endpoints can’t rely on client or browser controls to protect your application through real world examples and hands on practice. Laptops with Fiddler (Windows), Charles (Mac), or Burp Suite Free (Win/Linux) installed are encouraged.

David Upson is a member of the application security team at Progressive Insurance. He and his team work to improve the security posture of web and mobile applications at Progressive through consulting and hands on security testing. He has spent the last 8 years in Information Security and IT server engineering.

Open House

Many people don't realize how large and in-depth Progressive's IT department is. With roughly 3,400 IT professionals, we are one of the largest full stack IT shops in northeast Ohio. Having been the host for the CLE-WDD in 2017, Progressive invites you to come check out our IT department! Whether it's just a curiosity to what a 'day in the life' looks like, to network, or to find out what types of roles Progressive typically has available, this is a great opportunity to connect!

The networking session will start at 5:45 with representatives from Progressive IT.

Come for the presentation, the networking, or both!

Progressive's Discover Building

- Park in the very back and look for two tall glass doors for Studio 96. The doors are locked and hard to see inside but rest assured, somebody will be on the inside to let you in.
