COFFEE & CODED is empowering a community of inventive, entrepreneurial, fearless women to #TRYTECH.

Through hands-on, skills-based classes and workshops, we are changing the tide for women in tech. We're proud to empower local engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs as our speakers and instructors, providing a strong model for female leadership. Our classes are targeted toward people who are new to coding and/or tech, but open to all! Our team of diverse speakers, tech professionals, and instructors are dedicated to creating an inviting and collaborative learning environment and making tech a little less scary.

Why Design Sprint? Creating relevant digital products with high retention is very hard. 72 % of all new products and services fail. The key to product success is to validate your ideas with real users as quickly as possible. A Design Sprint is a structured process to create and validate new products, used by companies like Facebook, Google, and McKinsey. The process consists of battle-tested exercises from design thinking, lean startup, and service design – put into a 4-day iteration cycle, ending with 5 user tests. In this hands-on, fun-filled workshop you’ll get an introduction to Design Sprints and learn techniques you can use with your team to generate ideas and solve problems quickly, without useless discussions. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS WORKSHOP? Map – Sketch – Decide – Prototype – Test - You’ll learn what a Design Sprint is and what it can be used for - You’ll understand why it works and be inspired to learn more - You’ll learn techniques you can use with your team to solve problems quickly, without useless discussions WHO SHOULD ATTEND This workshop is for creative professionals and students interested in learning the fundamentals of the Design Sprint process and how to apply these principles in what you're working on today. Are you code curious? We're calling YOU to come code with us! Come get your feet wet in our Coffee & Coded: Beginners course. You'll be learning the basics of web development (HTML & CSS) and leaving the class with your very own website ready to go live. Just bring your laptop and we'll bring the coffee! By the end of class you'll be able to: - Build a website from scratch (no drag and drop editors) using HTML Tags and CSS to create custom styles - Understand how a webpage and server make requests - Pick Up Key Coding Principles, Best Practices, and Terms - Use Google Developer Tools to view code behind any website - Understand how to host a Website Live on the Web ** Must bring a computer or tablet to class
