After a short break in October, we're back!

This month we are so grateful to be joined by Matt Callanan to share lessons learned from his personal journey navigating tech leadership and burnout.

📖 Talk description

Burnout is a very real threat to highly engaged, intelligent, technical leaders. But few tools are available to help us understand how and when it strikes and what to do when it does.

Having experienced burnout more than once in his 20-year technology career, Matt has been on a personal journey in 2019 to understand more about the impact of burnout, what personal and workplace factors contribute to it, and what to do once you’re in meltdown.

He brings recent research and strategies from the fields of neuroscience, medicine, psychology, and management to present key takeaways that will help you improve situational awareness while straddling the eustress/distress spectrum. He will also attempt to answer the question of why we as an engineering discipline are prone to burnout.

Whether you’re feeling a little overcooked yourself or keen to understand how to identify and prevent burnout in the people you lead, there’s something for everyone in this discussion.
