Bridging the Gap between CUNY and the United Nations
Details
Bridging the Gap between CUNY and the United Nations is aimed at allowing CUNY students to raise their voices and work to achieve a more inclusive and sustainable world. Multiple organizations have called upon young people to be equal partners in addressing global issues, as they are crucial in finding innovative solutions. With a majority of the student population across the world being comprised of young people, there must be a need to include and engage the young student population in significant global discussions.
CUNY Civic Meetup, co-hosted by the United Nations Association of New York, will provide CUNY students exclusive access to some of the UN's highest-profile initiatives while also learning how you can become a part of the UN either through volunteering or working for them. Representing the UN will be employees from the following departments:
- United Nations Office of Human Resources – students will learn about career opportunities within the United Nations and its affiliated agencies, along with internship and fellowship opportunities.
- United Nations Academic Impact and Civil Society – Building partnerships between students and the United Nations, while learning how academic institutions can partner with the United Nations
- UN75 Shaping the Future Together – this will give CUNY students a glimpse of what it takes to shape the future of international organizations while understanding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The UN will also speak about The UN75, an initiative celebrating the UN's 75th anniversary by launching a global conversation on the role of global cooperation in building the future we want. Lastly, there will be a panel discussion about the importance of including young people in the conversation about tomorrow at the international level.
By attending, you'll become a part of the UNA-NY and gain access to fabulous events, networking opportunities, and, most importantly, the chance to be an equal partner in the future of the UN and its global impact!
Guest Speakers:
Fabrizio Hochschild, UN Under-Secretary-General, Special Advisor on UN75
Hawa Diallo, Chief of Civil Society
