Science can be funny too ... Comedy Night @ QMC

Details

Come along this Saturday to find out why in addition to science being interesting ... it can also be quite funny! Kate Smurthwaite, a very funny and incisive comedian and political activist, is bringing her solo show to the Central Studio in Basingstoke this Saturday. Here is a chance for Basingstoke Cafe Scientifique group members to appreciate her fresh, highbrow comedy that takes in science as one of her subjects of comedy.

If you're not familiar with Kate (and you should be!), she regularly appears as a pundit on TV and radio offering informed opinion on topics ranging from politics to religion to science and more. Her most notable appearance to date was on The Big Questions in 2010, a Youtube clip of which, named 'Athiest b!tchslap' has since gone viral (http://youtu.be/Xsj1UWol7l8). Stimulating, informed, charismatic and opinionated (but in a good way), Kate has been described as a "powerhouse of observational wit".

The show starts at 7.30pm, so I recommend that you arrive from around 7.00pm onwards to get a seat. Tickets are £12 on the day or £11 in advance.

I don't believe online booking is available at the Central Studio but I've attached a link to the listing and tickets can obviously be purchased in advance from ticket office or on the day.

NOTE: Apologies but I can't attend this evening due to a prior engagement, but I've added it to the Cafe Sci calendar in case it is of interest to others. Bob
