What we're about

We are an open minded, easy-going community; a diverse group of unique individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels. We are skillfully and humorously guided by Shirfu (which means teacher) who has a ridiculously extensive knowledge of Buddishm, both on an academic level and through personal experience.

You may want to check us out if:

- You want to learn how to meditate (and might be a little bit intimated)
- You need a meditation refresher because you havenʼt practiced for awhile
- You’ve been meditating for awhile and want to deepen your meditation practice
- You want to learn about Buddhism in a chill and laid back environment (we laugh often)

Sangha Sunday - Dharma Talk

Sangha Sundays are slightly more formal than Tuesday and can include chanting, Dharma talks, and meditation. FIRST TIME? If you want to attend Sunday Sanghas but have little meditation experience, please arrive 10 min early and let us know so we can help you get started. Don't freak out about the chanting. EXPERIENCED MEDITATOR? If you would like some guidance on taking your meditation a little further please arrive 10 minutes early and talk to one of the teachers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: One of the condo units has been converted to be a meeting place - it is not a private residence. Our unit does not have a buzzer on the main box. Look for the sandwich board (it has a picture of a Buddha on it) on the left, near the sidewalk. There is a white doorbell button on the sandwich board. Press the doorbell and someone will come to let you in. Trippy, I know. Meditation Tuesday - Samatha-Vipassana

Class 3 of 4 on Samatha-Vipassana meditation. We will be practicing Samatha-Vipassana as presented in The Mind Illuminated by Culadasa. Our teacher Kalyanamitra has spent considerable time training with Culadasa and will present the approach of The Mind Illuminaated in a way that is consistent with our non-sectarian Vimalacharya tradition of Pure Coursing. Whether you’re new to meditation or have experience, Tuesday’s class is perfect for you. Learn different meditation techniques in a relaxed, comfortable and easy-going setting. Great for those who enjoy the benefits of group meditation and want the structure of setting aside some quiet time, away from home, once a week to sit in silence and recharge your batteries. We teach 3 different types of meditation per 'term', each series lasting 4 weeks. It is preferable to come to a complete 4 week series since the instructions build on each other from week to week. However you are still welcome to join at any time. If you do join in the middle of a session please arrive 10 minutes early so the teacher can catch you up on what you need to know. FIRST TIME?
