What we're about

I had a hard time finding people to go climbing with all the time and I had a feeling some others might too. If you are looking for a climbing partner, this group is for you. It's for all different levels. Beginners are welcome.

All members attending MUST have knowledge of all basic skills to top-rope climb and belay! Most climbing centres offer weekly beginner course for this.

This group is free and so are the meeting (unless otherwise noted). There is a climbing fee at most climbing centre (unless you are a member). If you do not have gear, you can rent it at most centres.

Tuesday Night Rocky Mountain CCC

Rocky Mountain Climbing Gym

Tuesday Night Indoor Climb All skill levels welcome. MUST know how to belay on top rope. You can take your belay test if you haven't done it yet. If you are planning on attending, please RSVP so we can keep an eye open for you in the gym. We will meet inside at the front of the gym (by the water fountains) at 7:00 pm. If you sign up then can't make it for some reason, please update your RSVP status so we know you won't be attending. Thank you!

Thursday Night at Chinook CCC

CCC

Meet, greet and climb with your feet (and legs and arms and hands.... you get the idea). MUST know how to belay!!! (i.e., you must have passed the belay test at the gym or be ready to take the belay test right away). Classes offered weekly at all Calgary Climbing Center climbing gyms. Otherwise, all levels are welcomed to join. Please RVSP if you plan to attend this meetup, so that other attendees could keep an eye open for you in the unlikely and rare event that the organizer cannot make the meetup at the last minute. Notes about our meetups: • Please note that you must pass a lead-belay test at the gym in addition to your top-rope belay test if you want to lead climb or lead belay at the gym. • If you have trouble finding me, please check with the front desk. • The staff are fairly good at tracking me down inside the gym. Our meet-ups are fairly informal. Usually, people just come in, grab a partner and start climbing until they drop (usually around 8:00 to 8:30 pm). • While I don’t necessarily spend time with everyone or make formal introductions, I do try to ensure everyone has a partner to climb with. I'd also like to encourage everyone to mingle with other climbers. • A group of 2-3 climbers with similar climbing experience/ability tend to work best, and we tend to break into groups this way. I am happy to climb with just about anybody though. • Feel free to talk to me if you can't find a partner, your partner needs to leave early, or have questions/concerns. • While we encourage everyone to push their limit, please be considerate and don't hang on the wall for hours on end. You and your partner(s) should spend about the same amount of time climbing and belaying each other. If you really want to conquer a route, come back to it at your next turn.
