About us
Hello there! My name is Azren, aka "Azren the Language Nerd" and I run the Calgary Language Nerds. We are a local business that promotes multilingualism by organizing fun events and offering private lessons for numerous languages. I speak 5 languages myself: English, French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Gujarati. I would like to learn at least 3 more languages in my lifetime.

Walk & Talk: Hang out with other language learners
Poppy Plaza, Memorial Drive and 10 St., Calgary, AB, CAMake new friends and practice different languages!
Whether you're looking to practice a language you're learning or eager to support others learning your native tongue, everyone is welcome! Nothing brings me more joy than sharing my passion for languages with others ๐
What to expect.
This is a new event, so I suppose we'll see! We will meet at Poppy Plaza on the corner of Memorial Drive and 10st NW. After that, we will walk along the river together and socialize together.
Common languages at my events.
These walking events are relatively new, but over the past 10 years at other events I have run on this Meetup group, common languages have been:
- English
- French
- Spanish
- Portuguese
- Mandarin
- Cantonese
- Japanese
- Korean
- Ukrainian
- Russian
- Hindi
- Gujarati
We have had other languages too that are not on the list above.
Expect a friendly and casual vibe.
I make a point to greet everyone when they arrive to ensure everyone is comfortable. I'm also happy to practice any languages with you as we walk (if I speak it) and give you a mini lesson.
How to find us when you arrive.
The image for this event is exactly where we will meet. It'll be easy to find us ๐ You can always message me on Meetup or fill out this contact form in case you have any troubles.
Please be sure to arrive on time. We'll begin walking promptly at 2:10pm.
Where to park.
There are parking lots as well as street parking. I personally park a few blocks away in the residential area by the train station. There tends to be more space so I don't need to drive around incessantly looking for a spot to open up. I've never had any issues finding space in the residential area.
