Distance: 9 km Return

Elevation: 750m gain

Time: 5 - 6 hours on trail at a moderate pace + 3 hr driving

Location: Highway 40 west of Longview. If you are not sure where we are going or what kind of hike this is, Google it!!!

This is a good shoulder season trip, just north of Highwood Junction. We'll get great views of the mountains to the west and south. We'll be going at a good pace.

2012 or 2013 Membership dues of $20 must be paid to participate, or you can pay $5 for the day.

RSVP:
Update your RSVP as early as possible, at least 48 hours before the meeting time. If you are unable to attend for any reason whatsoever, LET ME KNOW as soon as possible. Car Pooling:
Please indicate in your COMMENTS if you can drive. I need to know if we have adequate transportation for all participants, not your preference to ride.

Participation:
The trip organizer reserves the right to move people on and off the trip or wait list, or to increase or reduce the size of the group, in order to match people to the trip based on fairness, ability, safety, and other criteria.

TRIP WAIVER You must sign a trip waiver to attend this event.

The organizer is not a licensed guide. Just an experienced hiker willing to share his knowledge.

DIRECTIONS:

To get there we'll meet on the east side of the parking lot of Anderson LRT Station. From there we'll dirive west on highway 22X (westbound Spruce Meadows Trail). If you drive by Spruce Meadows you know that you're heading in the right direction. At the junction with Highway 22, turn left (south). Follow Highway 22 to Turner Valley. In Turner Valley , Highway 22 turns east to Black Diamond. Follow it. In Black Diamond, Highway 22 turns south. Follow it south. It'll head towards Longview. Look to turn off west before Longview on Highway 541. Follow Highway 541 west all the way to Highwood Junction. The hike / snowshoe will start just to the north of where the road barricade is located.

Weather forecast: Always come prepared for any conditions

Trail conditions: Unknows. Brinig snowshoes and icers.

Costs:
Members are free. Non-members fee is $5. Gas contributions for drivers (see below).

Transport :
CORA trips start at the trailhead. As a convenience to participants only, we meet at the meeting point in Calgary then car pool from there. Please be on time. We don't want to have to wait around long. You may choose to meet us at the trailhead, but please advise us ahead of time. Please indicate in your RSVP COMMENTS if you can drive, if necessary. Please reimburse some $$ to drivers for gas.

EQUIPMENT:

Snowshoes.

Please dress for the weather: Weather can change quickly -- rain, snow, wind, warm, or cold -- BE PREPARED. No COTTON
Mandatory - sense of humour, backpack, lunch, 2 litres of water, layers, hiking boots.

Recommended - camera, gaiters, hiking poles
