What we're about
This is a fun group in which we will explore various locations (parks and urban areas) throughout the bay area, do some litter clean up for approx. an hour and afterward visit new restaurants for some lunch while getting to know each other and making new friends.
Events will be scheduled once per month (rain cancels) on Saturdays, usually starting around 11 a.m..
Here's the low down:
♥ Meet up at the designated spot at the designated time.
♥ Spend approx. an hour or so picking up as much litter as we can.
♥ Take before and after pictures to share on our group's page to see the impact we make.
♥ Lunch at a nearby restaurant is optional. Some days we do, some days we don't.
Note: If you come to help pick up trash, please bring your own gloves, and if you want to buy a trash grabber stick (found at Home Depot) please bring that, too. The stick helps so you don't have to bend over and especially to not touch the really dirty things.
If you see an area of town that needs serious attention, please let us know the details and we can set up some dates to go clean it up.
We hope to make this a nice community of like-minded people who don't mind getting outdoors, walking, aren't afraid of a little dirt and helping promote keeping our state clean and healthy. All this while hopefully having a good time and making new friends.
Something my husband and I already do and for you to think about:
Walk around your block or neighborhood where you live once a week or as your schedule allows, and pick up any trash you see in the gutters, sidewalks and sometimes on your neighbor's front lawn. Take the trash home and dispose of it in your own recycle and trash bins. If we all chipped in to clean up our own neighborhood, I think it has the potential to have a huge impact. Don't go into people's yard if it's not welcomed or trespass without permission.
P.S. If you're a plein air artist, you might be interested in my other group: Fairfield/Suisun Plein Air. We meet weekly and paint at various locations throughout the bay area and beyond.
