About us

The Cambridge Book Club is based in Cambridge MA and is unique in alternating between fiction and non-fiction selections. Reading selections are based on member suggestions and final member vote. We've been going strong for more than 15 years and we look forward to reading together and discussing the books we read in engaging ways! All readers, all ages are welcome!

A note to authors: be advised, it has come to our attention that online scammers have been impersonating our club and its organizers. We do not typically coordinate our readings with authors, and we never cold-contact authors by email or ask authors for money. If you receive any inquiry purportedly from us about using your book for a future meeting, please treat it with extreme skepticism!

English, Sanskrit, Armenian, Lithuanian and hundreds of other modern languages, from French and Gaelic, to Persian and Polish, trace their origins to an ancient tongue spoken as the last ice age receded. This language, which we call Proto-Indo-European, was born between Europe and Asia and exploded out of its cradle, fragmenting as it spread east and west. Its last speaker died thousands of years ago, yet Proto-Indo-European lives on in its myriad linguistic offspring and in some of our best loved works of literature, including Dante's Inferno and the Rig Veda, The Lord of the Rings and the love poetry of Rumi.

Our meeting location is Panera in Porter Square -- usually downstairs.
