What we’re about
This is a community group intended to provide a space for LGBTQ+ people in or around Cambridgeshire to find or organise events for socialising in a relaxed and safe environment. Making connections with others in the community is something many of us find essential for our mental health and wellbeing, as well as simply having a lot of fun together, so we are truly thankful for those who volunteer their time to organise the events and groups on this page. If you have any suggestions or would like to use this Meetup group for an event that you’re planning, please message us on Meetup or email gordon@pinkfestival.co.uk. The events on this page are centred around Cambridge, UK, although many are currently taking place online. To ensure the safety of group members, we aim to keep membership to those who have a connection to Cambridgeshire - this can be if you live, work, often visit, or have friends or family in the area.
We welcome members from across the LGBTQ+ spectrum and believe that everyone has the right to feel safe and comfortable here, so we ask that all members please respect one another in all aspects of identity, including but not limited to:
Sexuality
Gender Identity
Pronouns
Race and Ethnicity
Religion and faith
Ability status
Age
Members who do not abide by this request may be removed from the group.
Some of the events on this page are aimed at specific sub-sections of the LGBTQ+ community. We want to maintain these as safe spaces for the intended groups, while remaining inclusive and welcoming. If you join an event and your profile information conflicts with the parameters of the group, one of the organisers may send you a private message to check that the group is right for you. If your request to join a group or event is denied and you wish to discuss this, please message one of the administrators.
This group is primarily intended for making friends and building community. Please keep it Safe For Work - it is not a dating or hookup site. Please be respectful in your use of the private messaging function. If you receive a message that makes you uncomfortable, please let us know.
A note regarding profile information: the “say a bit about yourself” and “what do you hope to get from this Meetup” sections will continue to display the information you entered for the first group you joined. Please bear this in mind, as it means that if you introduce yourself as an LGBTQ+ person when joining this group, this information will be visible to any Meetup group you join in the future, unless you go into your profile and change it.
