4th Cambridge Genomics Meetup: Genome Assembly

Details

Welcome to the fourth Cambridge Genomics Group Meetup. For this event we will be discussing the theme of Genome Assembly.

This time our format is going to be slightly different from previous meetups. We managed to gather four distinguished speakers who will be talking 20 mins each. This will be followed by a break for pizza and a moderated panel discussion in the end for Q&A with the speakers.

Here is the proposed schedule:

7.00-7.20pm Dr Kai Kleiber (Dovetail Genomics) - Introduction to genome assembly

7.20-7.40pm Dr Shane McCarthy (University of Cambridge) - Scaling up genome assembly for Tree of Life genomics

7.40-8.00pm Dr Daniel Zerbino (European Bioinformatics Institute) - Graph genomes

8.00-8.20pm Mr Bernardo Clavijo (Earlham Institute) - Disentangling complex genomes, one haplotype at a time

8.20-8.40pm Pizza

8.40-9.00pm Panel discussion moderated by Sina Beier (Wellcome Sanger Institute)

Our free pizza will be sponsored this time by Dovetail Genomics. Dovetail Genomics offers innovative technology, software, and services to enhance your understanding of human disease and nature.

This will be an excellent networking opportunity to meet colleagues from across academia, industry and the tech sector in the Cambridge area. Come and join a diverse group of professionals and students for a drink while mingling with other fellow scientists at one of the hottest locations to do science on Earth!

We look forward to seeing many of you there and please do not forget to let your friends know about this event!
