Cell-free lunch with Dr Chiara Gandini (Bioeconomy Lab)

Details

At the Bioeconomy Lab we are investigating and addressing fundamental issues in the access to biological reagents. In addition, we are developing research tools to make biotechnology accessible, used, and useful in resource-constraint contexts. Cell free protein synthesis (CFPS) will be explored as a proxy for in vivo protein expression of IP-free enzymes such as DNA polymerases, ligases and restriction enzymes. Genetic libraries will be cloned by LOOP-assembly and CFPS will be used as a high-throughput first-screening to select the most promising genetic combinations for protein expression.

The SynBio SRI is pleased to announce a monthly lunch meeting series on cell-free synthetic biology, bringing together researchers and students leading or contributing to cell-free related projects.

To join our mailing list for updates, training events and meetups, please visit www.tiny.cc/cellfree

The meetings are intended to enable the latest technical advances in cell-free synthetic biology to be shared, grant opportunities and draft proposals to be discussed and better coordination of activities to take advantage of the substantial growth and opportunity we foresee in this area. It is also an opportunity to invite and involve experts in synthetic biology and sensing, knowledge transfer, technology implementation in resource poor environments and international development practitioners.
