2nd 2016 Cambridge UK Comp Bio and Bioinformatics meetup: single cell RNA-seq

Details
Dear Friends,
It is time to officially announce our 2nd 2016 meetup for Friday 22nd April. We will stick to the tried and tested venue of The Red Bull again so there will be enough space for more people and also fantastic pizza.
We have confirmed Dr Florian Buettner from the Oliver Stegle group, EBI, as a speaker on the informatics of single cell transcriptomics.
Dr Florian Buettner studied at the universities of Heidelberg and Barcelona as well as Harvard Medical School and obtained MSc degrees in physics and medical physics. Following his PhD in radiotherapy physics at the Institute of Cancer Research in London, he moved to the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Health in Munich, where his research focussed on the development and application of probabilistic machine learning methods in the context of biomedical research. Since 2015 he holds an MRC Career Development Fellowship in Biostatistics and is based at the EMBL-European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge. Here, he mainly works on the development of scalable latent variable models for understanding the observed heterogeneity in single-cell gene expression data.
As usual let us meet from 7pm onwards with the talk scheduled for ~8pm. Please RSVP yes/no as soon as possible so we can (potentially) adjust the venue based on interest.
Best regards, on behalf of the organisers,
Miika Ahdesmaki
