Dronie Day

Jelly of all those epic dronies (drone selfie) you see on Facebookstagram? Or do you just want the thrill of flying around a fancy quadcopter?

Well, this is your chance.

Come join us for a day of flying, photography, and dronie-recording! We'll have DJI Phantom 2 Vision and Vision+s on hand for you to fly YOURSELF while the camera rolls. No prior experience necessary, but a steady hand is helpful. We'll show you what to do and walk you through your first flight.

But that's not all! We're partnering with the Stanford Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) club, since they're WAY better at flying drones than we are. We'll also get a chance to hear what the mad scientists are up to in the laboratory, which you may see in consumer drones in a few years. Very exciting!

Schedule of Events:

10:00am - Arrival (parking available)

10:15am - Opening remarks (5 min)

10:20am - Where drones are headed, presented by Stanford SUAVE (10 min)

10:30am - Flying demo (10 min)

10:40am - Next steps for becoming a drone operator (including safety, training, etc) (10 min)

10:50am - Training session for basics of flight (10+ min)

11:00am - Split into groups with your Drone Guide

11:00am onward - Group flying
