General Information for All Hikes

***If you're not attending a hike, you don't need to RSVP as "not attending". You only need to RSVP as "not attending" if you have signed up for the hike and then cancel.***

To find the meeting location: if you click on the meeting location in the Meetup post, it will take you to an aerial view/map of the location. If you're still not sure how to get there, email the hike leader ahead of time and allow plenty of time to find it the day of the hike. Garman and other GPS programs are not always accurate with respect to some of our hike locations.

Please try to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you have plenty of time to get your gear and dog(s) ready. We will begin the hike promptly at the start time in the Meetup notice.

If you have signed up but can't make it, please change your RSVP to "no" and email the hike leader so we won't be waiting for you.

Please keep in mind that even friendly dogs can have space issues, so when we're waiting, please don't let your dog greet another dog without first asking the owner's permission, and be careful with snout-to-snout greetings.

Some of our hikes are more challenging, while others are geared toward beginners. We make this clear in the hike description so you can choose hikes according to your/your dog's experience and comfort level. Please see FAQs ( for a description of the different types of hikes we offer.

Flexi-leashes are discouraged (and not allowed at all on our more challenging hikes) because they can easily get tangled and cause injury when hiking with a large group of dogs. Leashes that attach to your body are also discouraged for safety reasons and not allowed on hikes with steep terrain. We want everyone to have a great time, but we also want everyone to be safe!

Wear good trail shoes or boots. Bring poop bags and water for you and your dog.

On some of our hikes (and pretty much all of our warm-weather hikes), your dog (and possibly you) will likely get muddy and wet! (As far as the dogs are concerned, that's part of the fun!)

In the summer, you may also want to bring bug spray. In the summer, the trails are lined with poison ivy, so you may want to consider either wearing long pants or planning on a good post-hike scrub for both you and your dog. (If you don't know what poison ivy looks like, just ask your hike leader to point it out.) Make sure your dog is up to date on your tick prevention of choice.

We are thrilled that folks are enthusiastic about joining us on our hikes! Please understand that we can only accommodate a certain number of folks and pups on a given hike. Our group sizes are limited to ensure that we can effectively manage each group. You are welcome to RSVP with a guest (or two), but if the hike is filled up, please respect our limitations. There are more hikes on the way, you won't be left out!
