  • ~8-9km social trail run from Goody Ales

    Goody Ales

We're back to our Wednesday social runs, but in order to comply with the rules we are having to make a few changes. However, with restrictions being lifted we have removed the limits on participants but we may wish to continue running in small groups and will still have a shorter group around 6-7km. We have agreed to run from this local brewery into Blean Woods. They close at 7 o'clock but will leave the gates open for us to leave later in the evening and to sit down and have a beer in the field afterwards. Please DON'T BYOB as the deal is we will buy takeaway from their shop before it closes at 7. Selection of bottled and cask ales available. We will try to head off running by 6.45 so please come early if you are buying beer as they will still have restrictions on numbers entering the shop and it will be closed upon our return. Remember, we still need to be responsible so sorry, no hugs or handshakes and make sure you wash your hands before and only come if you feel 100% healthy, you all know the drill by now for sure. We want to set a good example and don't want to give the villagers a reason to be able to tell us off and give CT a bad name ;)

  • Virtual Quiz Night

    Online event

Join us for our regular Friday night virtual pub quiz! We will be using Zoom video conference software for the quiz and the quizzit website for answering questions (a link to this will be sent out during the quiz) You will need a laptop/desktop with webcam and microphone (preferred option) or a mobile phone or tablet with the Zoom app installed. The link to the Zoom meeting will be in the location of the event. The questions will be read out in the video chat then you'll break off in to teams of 3 or 4 to discuss the answers. Everyone is welcome, both old and new members! If other members of your household will be playing along with you, please could you add them as guests when you RSVP so we have an idea of numbers for planning teams. If you would like to form your own team with friends, please let us know in advance and, if possible, when you join the Zoom meeting prefix your display name with your team name so we can easily put you into teams. If you don't have a team that's fine also, we will put you into one.

  • Virtual Book Club - Once Upon A River by Diane Setterfield

A dark midwinter’s night in an ancient inn on the Thames. The regulars are entertaining themselves by telling stories when the door bursts open on an injured stranger. In his arms is the drowned corpse of a little child. Hours later the dead girl stirs, takes a breath and returns to life. Is it a miracle? Is it magic? Or can it be explained by science? An exquisitely crafted multilayered mystery brimming with folklore, suspense and romance as well as with the urgent scientific curiosity of the Darwinian age, Once Upon a River is as richly atmospheric as Setterfield’s best seller The Thirteenth Tale. How are the books chosen? We have a WhatsApp group that new members are welcome to join once they have been to their first Book Club Meetup. We take 1 book suggestion per member and a doodle poll is created for up to 10 options. Then we all get to vote on 2 books. The winner goes forward as the chosen book.
