  • Dancing with Ceroc in Canterbury

    Westgate Hall,

What is Ceroc? Ceroc is a fusion of a wide range of different dance styles. It is easy to learn, sociable and fun, and can be danced to any music with a regular beat. You do not need a partner and no experience required. Our varied classes are catered towards a range of different ability levels, from nervous first timer to dance floor master. Whether you turn up alone, with a partner, or in a group, you will get the opportunity to dance with other learners at our class night. What to expect. The night starts with a beginners class at 8pm. You will learn three simple moves that will start to develop your core skills and basic techniques. At 9pm while the intermediate class takes place, begginers have the opportunity to get together in a group session led by Taxi dancers to review the moves. After the lessons, your night takes off when the DJ takes control for the freestyle session. The costs of the whole evening, including lessons, is just £9, pay cash on the door. Testimonials: Simon Tozer: Classy venue at the west gate hall, easygoing approach to learning how to dance, from a top class instructor. No one is ever made to look silly, but just helped with the sole am to encourage you to just have fun. Philip Roe: Simone and the team have created a fantastic venue at the west gate hall ... great music .. superb teaching.. and crew and door staff all experienced and helpful . Very welcoming and some superb dancing to be had ... love that simone dances all night with a smile !! Helen Foster: Brilliant teacher, DJ and support. Always welcoming and very friendly. • Canterbury Food Bank Dance

    Needs a location

Weekly Tuesday night swing/r’n’r dance in aid of the Canterbury Food Bank. Entry is just 4 items of tinned or dried food, long life drink or essential toiletries.

  • Social Night TRAIL RUN: ~8km off road on trails near Canterbury

Location often depends on weather forecast and is usually confirmed two days before the run. We are a very sociable and friendly running group always looking for new people to join us. If you enjoy a bit of running and are happy to run off road on uneven ground and muddy trails then come and join us for a trail run around some fields/woods near Canterbury! We usually run at a decent pace but always wait at corners and gates for people to catch up. We always try to start from a nice country pub (within 25min of Canterbury) so we can have a well deserved drink afterwards and sometimes even dinner :) We can usually provide at least one lift from and to Canterbury (collection point from Dunelm Mill car park or Oaten Hill if the run is towards Littlebourne way). ***We'll be running in the dark with no street lights! So please make sure that you bring a decent head torch or handheld one to the run (we recommend one with at least 160lumen, not a cheap mountain warehouse or poundland one) and also make sure you can be seen by cars from the back (see note below)*** Please note: We advise you wear bright coloured or reflective items of clothing or accessories that flash or reflect the light in case we run alongside a road for a bit (available for little money in Mountain Warehouse, Halfords or Gooutdoors) . Please also bring an EXTRA TOP and HOODIE to change into after the run so you don't get cold once you've cooled down when we have a drink/dinner in the pub afterwards. If it's been raining it is very likely you might get wet feet when running through grass and on trails so please also bring a SPARE PAIR OF SOCKS AND SHOES to change into. (and don't forget a PLASTIC BAG for your dirty trainers!) BE AWARE you will get quite muddy and wet during the run if it's been raining a lot!! But this is all part of the fun!! :D The group's terms and conditions can be found here: https://www.meetup.com/CanterburySocialConnections/pages/24734988/Canterbury_Social_Connections_Terms_and_Conditions/
