Tues, Nov. 19, we will continue our discussion of pseudoscientific medicine practices with "Naturopathic Medicine”. This particular area employs an array of practices such as "natural", "non-invasive", or promoting "self-healing." The ideology and methods of naturopathy are based on vitalism and folk medicine, and often the use of other alternative practices such as homeopathy rather than evidence-based medicine.

As usual, we will explore the roots of this practice and how it exploits the word “natural.” This presentation will be by Rich Sagall, an MD, with a video presentation by Harriet Hall, MD, known as the SkepDoc. The training for Naturopathic Medicine , which is either a four-year or seven-year program or on-line, will be explained and whether an ND (Naturopathic Doctor) degree is comparable to an MD degree.
