September Meetup - An evening with lightning

Details
Come join an evening full of learning opportunities. Instead of only one subject, we dedicate this month meetup to multiple lightning talks.
A lightning talk is 15 minutes long and allows new speakers as well as experienced speakers to share a topic they are passionate about and that will benefit our community.
LIGHTNING TALKS
- Timing is Everything – Catherine Holland
Are you an early bird, night owl or somewhere in between? When is the right time to do admin, analytical or insights work? When are you at your best performance and your worst? When is the best time for a break and what is the best type of break to take? What are the Secrets of Group timing?
From Dan Pink’s latest book, The Science of Perfect Timing, find out how to structure your day differently to maximize productivity and keep your teams happy.
- Design Sprint – Socotra Williams
How do you tackle a big problem? Do you jump right into solution mode without spending enough time on understanding what the problem is really about?
We will briefly look at how a design sprint format can help teams better understand a problem, allow for creative solutions and get fast real life feedback.
- From Law to Agile - how did that happen? - Rebecca Cameron
“No no Mum, I am not going to be coaching the rugby boys” “Haha (sarcastically) - have not heard that joke before”
Any career change is daunting but completely within your grasp. A culmination of life experience is an asset! From life as a corporate lawyer at CDH and then as an account manager at OfferZen - I have finally started a position as a scrum master at Afrolabs.
The number of different interpretations of what a scrum master does is impressively large and scary. So your very first step is to ensure YOU understand the role of a scrum master. Before you can create a culture of openness and courage within an organisation, you need to cultivate curiosity within yourself.
This talk will combine both my personal trials and tribulations on this journey in a humorous fashion (if I do say so myself) as well as provide useful, practical tips on how to begin the journey towards becoming a scrum master.
AGENDA
The agenda for the evening will be as follows:
- 17h30: Arrival and light snacks.
- 18h00: Official start.
- 18h05-18h20: First round of lightning talks
- 18h25-18h40: Second round of lightning talks
- 18h45-19h00: Third round of lightning talks
