The Sierra Club is America's oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organization. The mission of the Sierra Club is to Explore, Enjoy, and Protect the Planet. The Cape Fear Group of the Sierra Club serves members of Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Duplin, New Hanover, Pender and Robeson Counties. You do not need to live in one of these counties to join our Meetup, and unless specifically noted, you do not need to be a Sierra Club member to attend one of our Meetups, events, and/or outings. We welcome anyone and everyone and would love to see you at one of our events!

Speaker: N.C. Rep. Deb Butler leads off our presentation with a program centered on this year's legislative trends and legislation underway for the fall. She will discuss environmental legislation she has supported and how important it is for Sierra Club members to get involved in the 2026 elections NOW and how we can do that.Deb Butler represents House District 18, a position she has held since 2017. She's been endorsed by the NC Sierra Club each time she has run for office. She has been a vocal leader on environmental issues, particularly around the fight for clean water in the wake of PFAS contamination in the Cape Fear River. Deb is a founding member and a co-chair of the NC Progressive House Caucus.
