Let's discuss Sam Lipsyte's The Fun parts

East City Bookshop

Returning to the form in which he began, Sam Lipsyte, author of the New York Times bestseller The Ask , offers up The Fun Parts , a book of bold, hilarious, and deeply felt fiction. A boy eats his way to self-discovery while another must battle the reality-brandishing monster preying on his fantasy realm. Meanwhile, an aerobics instructor, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, makes the most shocking leap imaginable to save her soul. These are just a few of the stories, some first published in The New Yorker , The Paris Review , or Playboy , that unfold in Lipsyte's richly imagined world. https://catalog.dclibrary.org/client/en_US/dcpl/search/detailnonmodal/ent:$002f$002fSD_ILS$002f0$002fSD_ILS:849621/ada?qu=sam+lipsyte&lm=BOOKS

Let's discuss Nick Harkaway's Gnomon

Northeast Neighborhood Library

From Nick Harkaway, a virtuosic new novel and his most ambitious book yet--equal parts dark comedy, gripping detective story, and mind-bending philosophical puzzle--set in a not-too-distant-future, high-tech surveillance state. In the world of Gnomon, citizens are ceaselessly observed and democracy has reached a pinnacle of "transparency." When suspected dissident Diana Hunter dies in government custody during a routine interrogation, Mielikki Neith, a trusted state inspector, is assigned to the case. https://catalog.dclibrary.org/client/en_US/dcpl/search/detailnonmodal/ent:$002f$002fSD_ILS$002f0$002fSD_ILS:984811/ada?qu=Gnomon&lm=BOOKS
