"Adventures in Outsourcing your Digital Marketing on the Cheap"
Dom Hodgson, Little Warden (https://littlewarden.com/)
Remember the days when you could build a product then submit it to the Yahoo! directory and wait for the hundreds of visitors that would find it...
Well, directories are gone, Yahoo! is now Oath and I've still got things to launch. So Dom Hodgson bought a load of thick business books and used them to lift his monitor up on the desk a few inches and then does what he normally does. Wing'ed it. With a small budget, we try and advertise our products for the lowest possible price.
You won't BELIEVE what happens next.
From the organiser: I remember seeing Dom at the first brightonSEO I ever went to (April 2012!) where he was the keynote speaker - and his talk was brilliant. This is likely to be a very funny and entertaining talk that's also very enlightening. He's also a massive Disney fan (if the pic didn't give it away)...!
"Design-led Thinking for Data-led Problems"
Louis Halton Davies, Web Marketer (https://www.webmarketeruk.com/)
Anyone can read blog posts and listen to podcasts and then call themselves a digital marketer. I know because that’s exactly what I was doing 9 years ago. Guzzling content and implementing the findings – and learning the hard way that a tactics-first approach gets messy. Fast. I started out as a graphic designer and, although I don’t design anymore, design-led thinking has been an invaluable asset. In this talk I’ll run through 7 challenges I’ve faced along my career and how applying design-led thinking had dramatic results.
From the organiser: A massive thank you to Louis, who’s filling in at the last minute to replace Stacey, who sadly had to cancel due to medical reasons. This sounds like it’ll be a really interesting talk.
LIVE SITE REVIEW
As usual, we will be analysing and auditing a volunteered website live on the night! A few days beforehand we'll announce who it is (via a Meetup mailout) so that you can research them beforehand if you like. SISTRIX (https://www.sistrix.com/) is our site review sponsor, so we'll be using their toolset to help us analyse the volunteered site and find some 'quick wins'!
FREE FOOD & DRINK
Like last time, 10 Feet Tall will be providing us with some yummy buffet food, while there'll also be a drink voucher for every attendee. If you have any dietary requirements beyond vegetarian then please let us know ASAP, ideally no later than the Monday beforehand at the latest. You can message us (via Meetup) or drop a comment below.
Once again a big thank you to our sponsors, who cover the cost of the free food & drink:
Ghost Marketing - https://ghostmarketing.co.uk/
Escentual - https://www.escentual.com/
Red Squirrel Marketing - https://www.nutsaboutmarketing.com/
Lunax Digital - https://lunaxdigital.co.uk/ NEW SPONSOR!
SISTRIX - https://www.sistrix.com/
Also a big thank you to our website sponsor Marka (http://www.markastudios.co.uk/) and photo/video sponsor GSD Media UK (https://gsdmediauk.com/).
SISTRIX WORKSHOP(?)
I don't think SISTRIX will be running one of their workshops ahead of this event (I think the next one is scheduled for September) but it might be worth keeping an eye out here in case the situation changes: https://www.sistrix.com/seminar/
