Our first TechTalk of the year will dive into the contemporary topic of Bitcoin, lead by Jack Davies, Research and Development scientist in blockchain technology at nChain.

Six experts working at the cutting edge of blockchain research and development will be leading an interactive evening of two sessions, each with interactive presentations followed by guided exercises and a workshop.

The descriptions of the two sessions are as follows:

• Session 1: Digital Signatures and Bitcoin Script -

This session will cover an introduction to digital signatures, ECDSA and the theory behind how they are used to implement complex payment conditions in Bitcoin, which will include an introduction to the Bitcoins scripting language and its execution and validation engines. The session will give the opportunity to practice generating and signing Bitcoin transactions from scratch, and give developers the chance to write their own custom Bitcoin locking script.

• Session 2: Threshold Signatures, Key-Splitting and Security -

This session will introduce advanced concepts about how to securely distribute keys and key-shares among multiple parties to maximise security for Bitcoin-related applications and payments systems. This will cover key-splitting techniques, including modern threshold signature schemes used to secure Bitcoin SV wallets. The attendees will then be able to practice implementing threshold signatures as part of the workshop.
