Carpe Diem! 2nd Thursdays! Don't miss the chance to dance to live music & caller
If you can walk, you can do these dances. No need for a partner or prior experience. The caller tells you what to do. Fabulous fun and great exercise too! AND a great way to make new friends. If you don't feel like dancing, you can enjoy the live music and festivities. Find out what all the buzz is about and why HUNDREDS of people turn out every Friday and Sunday nights at the Glen Echo Spanish Ballroom for live music and contra-dancing. Its popularity is sweeping the nation--so we hope you will seize the day and catch the wave. Join us on the 2nd Thursday of every month (Feb 13, March 13, April 10, etc.) in the beautiful Great Hall, our new Community Dance venue, and participate in the pleasure of dancing on the sprung wood floor--one of our Silver Spring Civic Building's greatest assets! What we're about

Please join us if you are looking for opportunities to participate in the Arts, if you love to sing, or dance, if you write songs, poetry, or if you would like to explore and discover new frontiers. CARPE DIEM ARTS creates multi-generational and cross-cultural community celebrations, offering workshops and residencies in the visual, literary and performing arts, as well as a monthly Sing and a monthly Contradance in Silver Spring, retreats on the Eastern Shore, and other uplifting and community-building events and activities. We see the arts as a means of building hope and harmony across the divides, while also promoting wellness of mind, body and spirit through experiencing a broad range of cultural traditions and artistic disciplines, and supporting individual creative expression as a pathway to a higher quality of life.
