What we're about

Cascade became the NEWEST Chapter accepted in the NW as an official HRC club in 2013!! Our members have worked hard for this great accomplishment.

During the off-season from Upland & Waterfowl hunting, Cascade puts on a monthly training day at Pat Murphy’s Training Grounds in Snohomish, where we work on land and water retrieves (dependant on weather conditions), providing dead birds and as available, live flyers to train with. We are a fun, friendly, inviting group of dog owners, looking to continue training our dogs to become the best retriever they can. We encourage new owners to this sport, come out and see what we are about, you and your dogs are always welcome!! And many members are willing and able to take some time to work one-on-one with you as you start out with your pup (or older dog who is just starting).

As a Chapter of HRC, Cascade will now put on a yearly Hunt Test at our training grounds. We are always in search of volunteers, a great way for new handlers to observe and learn!

If you are interested in joining or learning more about Cascade HRC, please contact Boyd Ulsh (425) 501-3989.

CHRC Training Day

Pat Murphy's Training Grounds

Cascade Retriever Club training day at Pat Murphy's training grounds in Snohomish (near Monroe). Train with dead ducks on land and water. Join us for a fun day with a great group of people and fantastic dogs! Whether your dog is old or young, experienced or just starting out, purebred or not, training days are for anyone who wants to give their dogs some birds to enhance their natural ability to retrieve. Setup starts at 9:30am, Training to follow. If you are available to help with setup, please show up at 9:30. If you are there to help, you also can give your input on how you'd like to see things setup for the training scenario! Moving forward with our training days, if you bring a dog out to train, please come prepared to volunteer and help. If you can sit in a blind and load one bucket full of ducks in the winger, that helps a lot! Or maybe you can spend 30 minutes running the line... The training days are not supposed to be designed as a service, but as a club event where we all help each other. Many members have carried the burden over the years of doing a lot of the work, often not having time to run their own dogs. We want EVERYONE to have a good time and get a chance to train, so we will be expecting attendees who are training a dog, to spend a little bit of time volunteering. We are trying to help each other and help our dogs grow and have fun! You can come out and observe as well, guests welcome anytime. Please RSVP for planning purposes - we need to plan for birds and bird throwers. RSVP using this forum or call or text[masked] or email Boyd ([masked]). Looking forward to seeing you! Potential Training Day Scenarios: Scenario 1 - Pop and throw dead bird single or double on land/water, with optional blind Scenario 2 - Pop and throw dead bird triple on land/water, with blind Training Day fees: Dead Bird: $25.00 for 1st dog - $10.00 for 2nd dog Guests ALWAYS WELCOME!! If you'd like to come out and meet us, see what we are about, see how the training days flow, feel free to stop by. :) Members: $5.00 off total cost of your training day Membership renewal: $35 family or $25 single membership Volunteers are always Appreciated & Welcome!! Possibilities for volunteering/helping would be: Scenario Designer, Equipment Haulers, Throwers, Clean up, and more... Each job does not last all day if everyone does a little. Our grounds are just off Hwy 2. There is a big lodge building as well as a gravel, rock, bark business next to the Hwy. Turn into the paved area and follow the gravel road across the RR tracks, then follow signs out to our grounds.
