Broad River (Eastern GA)
• What we'll do Since this had turned out to be such a popular and fun trip. We are going to do it again this year. As we did last year, we will camp at Broad River Outpost in one of the group sites. Last year we did this and it seemed to work out great. I will try to get sites 4 & 5. But not sure yet and will update when I am. This is a primitive area with no electric. There is water and privies. There are also hot showers. The costs are as stated. $5/person each night for camping. And the shuttle is $5 with your boat. You can rent a boat for $20 and shuttle is included. As like last year. On Saturday we will be doing the upper section (either a 10 or 14 mile option) and paddle down to the outfitters. If you are not camping here, please meet us at 10 am and we will get a number for the shuttle. When we finish for the day, we can leave our boats here and we will paddle the lower whitewater section on Sunday. This will be a 6 mile section of class II water. As anyone who has gone in the past will tell you. This section is a blast. We will meet again at 10 am to do the Sunday paddle and then the shuttle will return us to outfitters. You can either leave from there or spend another night and we can do that section again. So to be clear. The cost should be $10/person each day to cover shuttle and camping. If this changes, I will let you know as soon as possible. Not sure what is in the area as far as dining. But we are only about 30 minutes from Athens,GA and there is plenty there. • What to bring Please bring cash for your shuttle and camping. It will be much easier if I collect from everyone and pay it as a group. Also, please do not call to reserve a spot. I will handle thos arrangements. • Important to know

What we're about

The River Called
The river called, or so I thought.
So, I paddled that beautiful stream.
My companions and I , the whole day sought,
The peace, the quiet, the birds, and the bream.
But the gift I will keep, from the river that day,
Is the love of my life, and the friends I have made.

(Written by paddler Fred Toms, following his participation in the 2011 Roanoke River Partners Paddle Days Event.)
