FAQ

WHAT IS LAUGHTER YOGA?
Laughter yoga is a practice involving prolonged voluntary laughter. Laughter yoga is based on the belief that voluntary laughter, done willingly, provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. Laughter yoga is held in groups, with eye contact and playfulness between participants. Forced laughter soon turns into real and contagious laughter.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A LAUGHTER YOGA WORKSHOP?
Laughter yoga is yogic breathing combined with laughter exercises. In a Laughter Yoga session, we’ll typically start with a warm up, lots of breathing exercises, laughter exercises, a laughter relaxation, lying down on a mat followed by a body/mind relaxation and lots of fun!

WHY IS IT CALLED LAUGHTER YOGA?
The word ‘yoga’ means union. In Laughter Yoga we use the union of laughter and breath “prāṇāyāma” to transform body and mind. We use yogic breathing to bring more oxygen to your body and brain which gives you more energy.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
You do not need to wear any special workout clothes as we don't be doing any traditional yoga poses. That said, wear something comfortable as we will be moving around and lying down.

I LAUGH ALL THE TIME, WHY DO I NEED LAUGHTER YOGA?
A natural laugh only lasts in 3-4 second intervals and depends on a real condition that may or may not happen. In a Laughter Yoga session you don’t leave laughter to chance. You get real benefits through exercises that provide continuous laughter which comes from the diaphragm. Also, we provide a safe environment where you can laugh unconditionally as loud or as much as your heart desires.

ARE THERE ANY HEALTH BENEFITS?
Yes, too many to mention! It changes your mood state instantly by releasing endorphins; reduces stress from your life and strengthens the immune system; increases the net supply of oxygen to the body and brain and improves efficiency while making you feel more energetic, it also is a great social connector and helps develop great caring and sharing network of friendship; lastly it teaches you how to laugh when life gives you challenges. It provides a positive mental attitude and teaches you to smile through difficult times.
